Visit With Santa

Dylan told Santa that he wants a Nintendo DS.  Of course he got stamped for the good boy list because he has been a very good boy again this year.   I am pretty sure Santa will pull thru.  We are very lucky as parents and I guess we must be doing something right, along with the wonderful help we get from Grandma's & Grandpa's.  I asked Dylan what KBug wanted and right away he replied "A Dylan doll!"  Hmmmm.  Dylan said Keenan doesn't always get to sleep with him because he(Dylan) sleeps in his own bed most of the time so Keenan probably misses him and needs a Dylan doll.  Also Keenan would have the doll to play with when Dylan is at school.  I asked him if there was a Dylan doll on the market.  He right away replied  "No but Santa's elves can make one, they know what I look like."

Rome

Me: Honey I don't think I can do it either.
Dylan: Just try
Me: I don't think I can.
Dylan: Rome wasn't built in a day Mommy.
Me: Ohhhh you just get out of here. =)
I really don't know where he comes up with these things, but I have a feeling he heard that one from Grandpa David.  He picks up on everything.  My little smarty pants.

He Knows Marketing

On thanksgiving Dylan was telling Uncle Dee that he was going to be a dentist when he grows up.  He said I am going to fix your teeth because I know that you have cavities.  He assured him not to worry because he was going to give him and Stephanie the family discount.  Probably $2 dollars.  But because of their discount he would have to up the charges for everyone else to make up for it.
WOW~!  He already knows marketing.

The Band-it

As the boys and I were driving we saw a car that had gotten pulled over and the car was getting towed.  I mentioned that they must have done something really bad to get their car towed.  Dylan said probably robbed a bank.  I stated that I didn't think they robbed a bank, but maybe I guess.  "I am never going to be a band-it.  Never ever."  Dylan said.  "Keener Beaner probably will be though."

2nd Year Preschool Conference

Dylan highly exceeds the teachers expectations.  She told me that Dylan was one of her smartest students, if not the smartest.  She said that is vocabulary is amazing.  Some of the words he uses, she just can't believe.  Mrs Julie sometimes has to tell Dylan to let the other kids answer some of the questions  (he is one of those kids) lol!   He does have a problem keeping still and getting on track.  Dylan and his buddy Alex have to be separated because they feed off of each other. When other kids are finishing up their projects my Dylan is just starting his.  She said it is hard to get stern with him because he is so lovable.  Yep we already new he was a charmer =)  All and all he is a treat to have in the class and very very smart!

Farmer John's

I Am Old Enough To Say Shoot, Right?

The other night Dylan ran past me and than turned around because he forgot something.  As he turned around he said "SHOOT!" Right after he said shoot he turned and looked at me with this funny, kind of of worried look.  "I am old enough to say shoot, right mom?"  I replied yes I think you can say shoot.  He than said "And dang it.  I can say shoot and dang it, right.  Because I am almost five.  Right."    This kid of mine cracks me up.

He Uses Analogies

"Sometimes I'm faster than a comet, and sometimes I'm slower than a turtle.  That's just the way it is Mom."

I Spy With My Little Eye

Dylan and I were playing I Spy With My Little Eye last night at home.  Heath was laying on the couch watching football and KBug was moving from person to person giggling.   Dylan:  "I spy with my little eye a grumpy old man."  Of course I busted out laughing as I was looking over to the couch and said "I spotted it"  It took Daddy a minute to realize that he was the grumpy old man.   A while longer into the game.  Dylan:  "I spy with my little eye a beautiful Mommy."   I said "WHERE"  Dylan started giggling and said "YOU Mommy"  and gave me a big smoochie woochie kins.  I have to say I really enjoy this game.

First Day -2nd Yr Preschool

Ready for his first day back

First time riding the bus (AMCAT)

Getting his name tag

Picked out his seat and ready to go

Bye Mom, Bye Keenan! Big smiles

Getting off the bus at the YMCA

The cool CaptainAmerica backpack he picked out

Dylan was super excited to go back to school. He really thought riding a bus (AMCAT) was going to be fun. He loves both.
He picked out his new packback (Captain America) which he is really into superheroes right now; notice the shirt as well. He is so grown up, and still a well behaved wonderful, FUNNY little/big boy. I wish I could bottle him up.

I Have Had Enough

Keenan had his one year well baby check up on Sept 7; Dylan came to the appointment with us.  I decided to have the blood work done with Keenan that I decided against with Dylan.  I thought since we just bought a home that was dated back to the 50's that the lead test was a good idea.  As we were in the lab Dylan informed the nurses that they better not hurt his baby brother.  I didn't realize how bad this was really going to be.  I had to lay on KBug's left arm and place my leg on his legs pinning him down (which made him mad instantly) while the nurses began to draw blood.  Of course KBug started freaking out.  Dylan was in back of us sitting on a chair.  The next thing I hear "ALRIGHT I HAVE HAD ENOUGH!!!" shouted Dylan.  I turned around and he was standing up on the chair and he was angry.  I had to smile.  It was that sweet sibling moment of togetherness.  Then we made our way to the doctors office.  Dylan was just fine in the office until the two nurses came in the room together at the end of the appointment, shot time.  Dylan looked at the two nurses and said  "I'm watching you and you better not hurt him."

I Will Show Her All My Moves

Dylan and I were talking about LOVE.  I told him that Mommy loves him more than anything in the whole world and the love Mommy has for him and Keenan is greater than all.  He said he thinks that his wife will love him more or as much as I do.  I agreed that his wife could maybe love him as much as I do but it is also a different kind of love and that sometimes a girlfriend/wife and boyfriend/husband can fall out of love with each other,  and that would never happen with him and Mommy.  He said "I will never let my wife fall out of love with me.  We will love each other forever.  I will show her all my moves."  I just cant believe some of the things that come out of my little mans mouth.  I laughed of course and said I don't doubt that one bit honey.  You are and will be a great person forever and I am sure the girl that you meet is going to be almost as wonderful as you are.  He smiled and drifted off as if he was dreaming about his future.  Gosh I love this kid so much.  Everyday is a new adventure with Dylan and you never know what he will surprise you with next.

Did He Check Your Blood Pressure

Yesterday while waiting in the check out line at Toys R Us Dylan struck up a conversation with the woman in back of us.(Imagine that)   She was wearing a wrist brace so of course Dylan was inquiring.  He asked what happened.  She said that she fell.  Of course he wanted to know where.  She was giving him the details and told him that she had to go to the doctor.  Dylan than asked did he check your blood pressure.  Of course not knowing Dylan this woman was surprised by the question from such a young boy and chuckled answering why yes...yes he did.  Dylan kind of tilted his head side ways, a gesture of concern." And how was it?"  This blew her away I think.  Answered with a laugh that it was good and began to ask my mom and I questions about Dylan; age being the first.  She said well this is definitely going on my facebook tonight.

Do You Pick Your Own Wife?

Dylan asked Grandma Jean if people picked their own wife.  Grandma asked what do you mean?  He said he was wondering if he was able to pick his own wife.  Grandma Jean began to explain the dating process and that if he found someone that he really liked that he could than ask her to marry him and have children if that is what he wanted.  His faced proved he was satisfied with the response and he replied "Oh good, because I really like Brylee."

Is Someone In Timeout?

Brotherly Love

A Bite In My Sandal

There is a notch out of one of my sandals because I have wore them out.  Dylan asked me what it was from.  I told him that crocodile bit if off.  He asked what crocodile and where?  I told him it is was the one in the pond at the fair.  He thought about it for awhile and replied "If a crocodile did it the bite would be more square; I think it was a squirrel or a chipmunk."  I swear he has a answer for everything.  He is a thinker.

Dragon Tales & The Gov't Shutdown

Dylan and Grandma Jean were playing with his toy dragons & dinosaurs.  He has this two headed dragon and Grandma told him that she had never seen a two headed dragon before.  "Yes you have Grandma, in the cartoon Dragon Tales, remember Zak and Weezy." Dylan said.  "Oh that is right. Grandma replied. "I wondered why they took that cartoon off the air?"Grandma asked.  "I think it was because of the Government shutdown." Dylan replied.

First Time On A WaterSlide

I asked Dylan if he wanted to go down the waterslide when we got to the St. Ansgar pool.  He said no, but 20 min later he came up to me and told me he wanted to go down the slide now.  I took him to the top and returned to the bottom for a picture.  He loved it and went a couple other times, before he ended up sideways coming down the last stretch.  I am sure he will be back on the waterslide the next time we go.  My little guy is getting so brave....and trying lots of new things

Heart-shaped Fireworks

Heath and the kids went to the fireworks with Grandma Jean and Grandpa David on the 4th of July, Mommy was at work.  We took the kids the night before.  Of course the 4th puts on a way better show.  During the fireworks one of the ones shot up into the air was heart-shaped.  Dylan looked over at Grandma and said  “Grandma, I think they seen me and you and they made a that."  Isn't he the sweetest kid ever!

Are You Going To Race Them?

Dylan, Keenan and I were at a stop light in our new vehicle, which Dylan absolutely loves.  A car full of younger boys pulls up to us and started revving up the engine.  Dylan asks what they were doing?  "I think they want to race your Mommy." I said.  "Are you going to race them?" Dylan asked.  "Welllll yeahhh." I replied.  Of course I don't even have to say who won......I have racing running thru my veins...LOL!  I should mention that I did not exceed 35-40 mph.  Dylan was laughing so hard in the back seat "Silly silly guy, trying to race YOU in a car like THIS."  Dylan said with such seriousness.  I couldn't stop laughing.

4th of July Weekend

Dylan had such a good time at family fun @ the park.  This year he did everything, well except the rock climbing because "No way, that is too DANGEROUS" I was so impressed with him.  The big blow up slide I wasn't sure he would go on and he did.  Then we came to the National Guard obstacle course, which looked a little "big" for Dylan, but he wanted to do it and he did awesome.  It was so fun watching him have so much fun.  He went up and down the obstacle course several, several times, and he even got to race mommy once; and win!  He was a good sport and went in the smaller kids blow up castle with KBug and even went on the train with his little brother as well.  Of course the favorite from last year, racing the mini go-karts.  He is so funny to watch because he is really racing.  Watching over his shoulder, trying to cut corners and even doing a little bumping.  I think watching Dylan do this was the favorite for his Uncle David =)
All I have to say about the parade is candy, candy, and more candy!
Dylan was super excited to go watch the fireworks he said to me "Mom if I fall asleep for a little bit you have to wake me up to go to the fireworks, promise." He really enjoyed running up and down the hill before they started.  And of course he loved the fireworks.....covered his ears during the finale, but had a smile on his face all the while.   When we got home he said lets light off the rest of our fireworks but quickly decided that bed sounded better.

Fashion No, No

A couple weeks ago Dylan told me he wanted to wear his shirt unbuttoned because that is a fashion model yes, yes.  Then he asked me if I wanted to know what a fashion model no, no is.  Of course I was curious.  He told me that is when you climb up trees when you have fashion clothes on.
Yesterday Heath slipped on his adidas sandals to go in the back yard with Dylan.  A few minutes later Heath came in the house and told me that Dylan had just informed him that wearing socks and sandals is a fashion no, no.  Heath was wondering where he is getting this from.  I couldn't stop laughing.  And hey....the kid is right.

Old & Grey

On Saturday Grandma Jean  told Dylan that it was going to be her  Birthday the next day and she  wanted to know if he was going to sing Happy Birthday for her.  He said, “How old are you  going to be.” Grandma Jean  told him, 60.  He looked at her  kind of funny and said, “Are you going to look the same.”  She  was laughing so hard and then Grandpa David came out of the Computer room and asked her  what was so funny, so she  told him and then he told Dylan, that Grandma was going to wake up all old and grey.  Dylan said, “Like you Grandpa.”  Which was even funnier.

The Wedding

I was in my friend Tiffany's wedding May 7.  Heath and Dylan came to the wedding.  I didn't see where they were sitting when I walked down the isle but noticed them when I was standing in front of the church.  Dylan had a big smile on his face and was waving to me.  Apparently during most of the wedding Dylan was asking his Dad "When are you going to marry my Mom, Dad?"  and you know how quiet kids are.  Heath kept telling him they would talk about it later.  After the wedding as I was coming back down the isle the look on Dylan's face as he glanced back and forth from me to Bernie(groomsmen) I could tell that Dylan was confused and some what frightened as to what just happened.  Bernie noticed as well so when Dylan and Heath came out of the church Bernie said Hi to Dylan; Dylan growled at him.  Later at the reception Dylan and I were dancing and having a wonderful time.  He did the chicken dance and the hokie pokie.  SO CUTE!  And spend most of his time there chasing girls.  While the father daughter dance was happening Dylan was sitting on my lap watching "Mommy, why did you walk down the isle with that other guy?"  Dylan asked.  "That is Bernie honey, Ava's daddy." I said.  "But why did you walk down the isle with him?" Dylan asked again.  "Well why honey. Why do you ask? I asked back.  "Because I was so embarrassed." Dylan replied with such a face.  I tell you this kid of ours is something else.  Cracks me up.  Not soon after he came up to me and said he was ready to go.  "I am having a lot of fun Mom, but these girls are just to fast!"

Uncle Chris, Meet My Baby Brother

Grandma Bobbie, Dylan and KBug took a walk to the cemetery to water Chris's flowers.  As they were walking up to Chris's headstone Dylan said "Hi Uncle Chris. You don't know this little guy yet, but this is my baby brother Keenan."   Awwwww
Dylan has always enjoyed going to visit his Uncle Chris; actually this is usually a must whenever he is out cruising the streets of Rose Creek.   I tell you the first time that little one year old bend down and kissed his Uncle's picture and said Unc Cissss; definitely a breath taking moment.

Grandpa Is Made In China

Dylan bend down and whispered in Grandma's ear that Grandpa was made in China.  He is pertaining to the fact that Grandpa is all broken like the toys that are made in China, which Grandpa is always telling him.  "Everything made in China is junk!"

Just Like Grandma Bentzin

Whenever Grandma Jean and Dylan play candyland Dylan wants Grandma to read him the story first.  Part of the story from the Chocolate Swap says, Don't be scared when Gloppy greets you, just give him a wave and a big smile and you'll make his day.  Dylan looked at Grandma Jean with a big grin and said 'Just like Grandma Bentzin.  I give her a wave and a big smile and I make her day."  He is the smartest boy ever =)

Dylan likes to pretend that he is different animals; especially dinosaur's.  The other day he was a Spineasorous.  He was roaring really loud.  He told Grandma Jean and Keenan that a Spineasorous shadow is as big as he is.  Kbug started shaking his head back and fourth - NO NO NO!  Dylan said "Yes Keenan!" Looking at Grandma he than said "I have never seen my baby brother lie before."

Happy 4th Birthday
